After a very long (and difficult!) winter, we’re thrilled that summer has finally arrived. What we love most about the warmer weather – even more than the change in temperature – is the change in trends! Summer is all about going out and being seen so if you’re looking to stay on trend, we’ve assembled the best of Summer 2014’s Fashion Trends to help you stay ‘haute’ in the heat…
FLORALS – Flirty and fun, florals are the perfect way to transition into a lighter summer look. The runways were full of floral patterns, both large and small, bold and bright or more understated. If you’re not too fond of wearing prints, but want to try out the floral trend, try incorporating one floral item into your ensemble and use basics for the rest: like a white top with floral pants or vice versa.
CROP TOPS – Crop tops are huge this summer, so dare to bare that stomach! Whether it’s a pinup style, lingerie-like top or something a bit more relaxed and casual, this is fashion statement that’s sure to stick around throughout Labor Day Weekend. We love pairing crop tops with a simple pencil skirt in a bright color: it’s the perfect style to show off your curves while keeping you classy and cool all summer long.
BOLD PRINTS – Similar to florals, prints are also in this summer…but not just any kind of print; we’re talking bold, bright prints, especially those with a geometric shape (rectangles, stripes, circles, etc.). Pair a bold, geometric top with white jeans or shorts to make a perfect summery statement.
TROPICAL COLORS – Take a cue from the late-sixties/early-seventies and shop for bright tropical summertime colors, like acid green, aqua, salmon pink, coral, melon and wisteria. They’re a bit more subdued (read: more wearable) than traditional summer neon but will catch eyes just the same whether you wear it on your next date night or for your next girl’s night out.
LACE – Lace was a major part of runway fashion for Summer 2014…so you can expect to see it everywhere this summer. Whether it’s stitched into a body-con dress, a blazer or shorts, it’s easy to find lace pieces that transition perfectly into your existing wardrobe. Plus, lace is light and airy so it’ll keep you cool – and on trend – even on summer’s hottest days.
Whether it’s lace, bold prints or bright colors, we encourage you to experiment with your wardrobe this season by trying one of summer’s hottest trends. Follow our advice above so no matter where your summer takes you, you can go out, be seen and, of course, be in perfect summertime style.
